Remove EXIF metadata from photos without uploading them.

No Trace Share reports supported EXIF fields before cleaning, removes or selectively handles them under format-specific rules, and verifies the generated copy afterward.

Opens the private browser-based cleaner. Your selected file stays on your device during supported inspection and cleaning.

What EXIF metadata can reveal

EXIF is one of the most common places a photo can carry information about where, when and how it was created. No Trace Share separates privacy-relevant findings from technical camera settings so you can see the difference before cleaning.

GPS and place data

Supported EXIF can expose latitude and longitude, altitude, GPS date/time, camera direction, speed, destination coordinates, processing method and area descriptions.

Capture time

Date taken, date digitized, modification time, time-zone offsets and related timestamp fields can reveal when the file was created or changed.

Device and owner details

Camera or phone make/model, owner name, camera and lens serial numbers, unique image IDs, software and computer/device-name fields can be present.

Comments and hidden previews

User comments, descriptions, Windows author/title fields and embedded thumbnails can carry information that is easy to miss in a normal image viewer.

EXIF removal is only part of photo privacy

A photo can also carry XMP, IPTC, plain text fields, Content Credentials/C2PA, AI Traces and color-profile information. A tool that deletes only EXIF can therefore leave other metadata behind. No Trace Share inspects the supported structures for the actual file format and reports them together.

Example: deleting GPS coordinates from EXIF does not automatically remove an author name stored in XMP or IPTC. No Trace Share checks those supported metadata families separately.

How supported photo cleaning works

FormatEXIF supportCleaning behavior
JPEG / JPGFull supported EXIF inspection including GPS, timestamps, identity/device fields and thumbnails.Supported metadata segments are removed or selectively handled. If orientation is needed, a minimal orientation record can be retained so the picture does not unexpectedly rotate.
PNGInspects the PNG eXIf chunk when present.Supported EXIF is removed during cleaning, with minimal orientation preserved where needed.
WebPInspects the WebP EXIF chunk. The EXIF chunk is removed from the cleaned output. Supported orientation can be re-added in minimal form when the container permits it.
HEIF / HEICCompatible still images support conservative EXIF/XMP inspection and editing. No silent JPEG conversion. Profiles, auxiliary images and unsupported container structures can remain; unsafe structures are retained or refused rather than guessed at.

Image quality and orientation

For JPEG, PNG and WebP cleaning, No Trace Share preserves the encoded image data rather than recompressing the visible picture just to strip metadata. Supported orientation is handled separately because deleting the only orientation instruction can make a photo display rotated.

Color profiles are also treated separately from privacy metadata. Supported RGB profiles are sanitized by default while preserving the validated color transform; you can explicitly preserve or remove them, with a warning that full removal can change color-managed appearance.

What EXIF removal does not do

It does not erase visible information

Names, addresses, faces, licence plates, screenshot text and anything visible in the pixels remain visible.

It does not promise anonymity

A verified result means the supported checks were run again against the generated copy. Other unsupported signals can still exist.

It does not remove pixel watermarks

Visible or invisible marks embedded into the media itself are outside the current metadata-cleaning scope.

It does not upload your photo

Supported inspection, cleaning and verification happen locally in the browser.

EXIF Metadata Remover FAQ

Does removing EXIF reduce image quality?

For supported JPEG, PNG and WebP cleaning, No Trace Share removes metadata without recompressing the encoded image just to strip EXIF. The visible image data is preserved.

Does No Trace Share remove GPS location from photos?

Yes, supported GPS coordinates and related EXIF location fields are reported and removed unless you deliberately keep or replace supported fields.

Will removing EXIF rotate my photo?

No Trace Share preserves supported orientation separately where the format permits it. A simple WebP that cannot preserve a non-default orientation is warned about instead of silently pretending otherwise.

Does EXIF removal also remove XMP and IPTC?

Not automatically in every tool. No Trace Share inspects and cleans supported XMP, IPTC and other metadata separately so they are not mistaken for EXIF.

Can No Trace Share clean iPhone HEIC metadata?

Compatible HEIF/HEIC still images support conservative EXIF/XMP cleaning. Color profiles, auxiliary images and unsupported container structures can remain, and unsafe structures can be refused.
